Aurora Aksnes is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer who goes by the moniker Aurora (stylized in all capitals). She began penning her first songs and learning to dance at the age of six, after been born in Stavanger and reared in the cities of Hle and Os. In 2014, she got a recording deal with Petroleum Records, Decca, and Glassnote Records after several of her songs were released online and became famous in Norway. Aurora rose to prominence with her first extended play (EP), Running with the Wolves (2015), which included the sleeper smash “Runaway.” Later same year, she sang a rendition of the Oasis song “Half the World Away” for the John Lewis Christmas commercial. Her music is largely electropop, folk, and art pop, with “ethereal” vocals. She began her career as a pianist only, but she eventually became involved in percussion and other parts of music production. Aurora has collaborated and co-written songs with a variety of musicians, including Icarus, Askjell, Lena, Travis, and The Chemical Brothers, in addition to her solo work. She also contributed to the soundtracks of various films and television shows, including Girls, Frozen II, and Wolfwalkers.
